Amanda Seyfried has responded to praise for her performance in You Can See Everything, after actor Timothy Simons discussed her work and the possibility of an Oscar nomination in an interview on The Kyle Buchanan Show.
Seyfried appears as herself in the documentary and also portrays Elizabeth Holmes in reenactments. She previously played Holmes, the businesswoman convicted of fraud, in the series The Dropout.
Simons said a scene in which Seyfried recreates Holmes greeting Nathan Fielder in jail stayed with him. He recalled that, while watching, he found the actress and Holmes seemed to merge into one person. He described Seyfried’s performance as “incredible,” while noting that he did not know how Oscar eligibility rules apply to a documentary.
After host Kyle Buchanan said he understood that Seyfried could be eligible for an Oscar nomination, a clip of Simons’ comments was shared on the podcast’s Instagram page. Seyfried replied in the comments with “TIMOTHY” and two heart-eyes emojis.
A24, which produced the documentary, is set to launch a Best Supporting Actress campaign for Seyfried.
