Adam Robinson, a Texas tech entrepreneur, said flying on private jets had become part of his identity. He discussed the lifestyle in a recent podcast, explaining that wealthy friends introduced him to it.

Robinson recalled being at dinner with friends from the hedge fund world when someone would suggest taking a private jet to Las Vegas a few hours later. He said he would readily join them. After realizing he could afford private flights himself, he began using them frequently, spending thousands of dollars a month, and described the travel as a way to show off.

Robinson died in a Florida plane crash while traveling with his family, their nanny and two friends. The group was heading to the Bahamas to celebrate his birthday. His wife and two young children also died in the crash.
